Laravel is an open-source PHP web application framework, created by Taylor Otwell (Taylor is from Arkansas. Go Hogs!) and intended for the development of web applications following the model–view–controller (MVC) architectural pattern. This framework takes the pain out of development by easing common tasks used in the majority of web projects, such as authentication, routing, sessions, and caching. It has successfully combined the very best of other web frameworks, including Ruby on Rails, ASP.NET MVC, and Sinatra. It is accessible and provides powerful tools needed for large, and very robust applications. A superb inversion of control container, expressive migration system, and tightly integrated unit testing support gives tools our developers need to build any application. I ran across a good article from Jeffrey Way that does a good job analyzing Laravel and the rise of the PHP language after going stale for a short stint, it is called Why this Open Source Framework is taking the PHP Community by Storm and is worth a read.
